This past Saturday, June 21st, the Fort Worth Flying Club came together for a truly memorable day filled with camaraderie, hard work, and fun. The day kicked off early with members rolling up their sleeves to give the hangar a thorough cleaning and wash. It was a great team effort that set the tone for what turned out to be a fantastic afternoon. The regular monthly meeting, scheduled for noon, brought everyone together to discuss club matters, and the energy in the room was high. Exciting announcements were made about the continued growth of the club, new member initiatives, and upcoming events that have everyone looking forward to what lies ahead.
After the meeting, the fun really picked up. A grill was fired up and filled the air with the irresistible scent of hamburgers and hot dogs, while chips, potato salad, and fresh watermelon rounded out a classic summer cookout. Meanwhile, many club members joined forces to wash seven aircrafts — a true display of teamwork and dedication. Some even went above and beyond, getting under the aircraft to scrub the bellies clean. It was great to see members jumping in wherever needed, all while keeping the atmosphere light and lively.
Adding to the excitement, a giant inflatable movie screen was set up, creating a unique backdrop as Top Gun: Maverick played while members worked and relaxed nearby. The popcorn machine was in full swing, adding that extra touch to make it feel like a true movie event. It brought smiles to faces young and old, and served as a fitting tribute to the love of aviation that brought everyone together.
A heartfelt thank-you goes out to every member who participated, contributed, and made the day so special. Events like these remind us why being part of the Fort Worth Flying Club is about more than flying — it’s about friendship, shared passion, and building a supportive community in the skies and on the ground.
By the way we are still looking for Alan’s shoes.
The mystery continues!!!
